I see a lot of discussion regarding the new seismic design and detailing rules for AS1170.4/AS3600.

I only read part of it so far, before getting distracted on something else yesterday....

But hopefully in future we can just refer people to that paper, instead of having to wait for rapt to show up to explain the differences between columns and wall design on a continual basis ...

Peter McBean has also just (Wednesday this week) been awarded the Australian Earthquake Engineering Society (AEES) John Connell Gold Medal for his work on structural design for earthquakes in Australia, including work with the AS 3600 committee.

Peter and the other authors have a long history of working to get design for earthquake effects treated seriously in Australia.
