Auto ignition of Natural Gas

In Australia our gas codes allows burners to be fired into a chamber which has reached a minimum temperature of 750degC (1382degF), without flame monitoring. This being well above the auto-ignition temp of nat gas which is just under 500degC. Other gases like propane being slightly less.

Additional requirements are that the chamber has to hold temperature above 750degC for 1 hour if the burners are turned off.

Is 750degC the minimum requirement in the USA and Europe?

I meant just under 600degC for the auto ignition temp of nat gas.

NFPA 86 (my copy is 2007, there is a later edition, but I don't think there are any changes this topic)

Section 8.17 covers the use of a Bypass Controller for operation at or above 1400°F (760°C). seven six zero Deg C

The bypass controller can not be the same as the primary temperature controller and must use its own temperature sensor.
