Auto labelling of assembly drawing, views pulled from component files 1

We make a "laser sheet" in assembly drafting as a programming guide. This is also used in the manufacturing environment.

We pull in the flat pattern view only from all of the components. The BOM table works but the autoballooning does not as no view show up to select when the BOM table is selected.

I am currently using 7.5 but will be stepping up to 8.0 probably next week.

I have tried this in both master model drawings and in a drawing sheet within the assembly file, both with these same results. BTW, any view of any level two component file yields the same results as well so this is not caused by the flat pattern it is caused by the fact that the view is not resident to the assembly file. I could rename every flat pattern view in the assembly drawing and label each view that way but it is not automated and I may as well just manually label. Ideally I dont even want the bom I just used it to try to generate the autoballoons.

What I really would like is a text string without leaders or balloons including the following information: the filename, the material, the qty. All of this information is in the assembly but of course the view is pulled from the parts. In the case of no material assignment or an incomplete r&d assembly (quick and dirty trial) it would be nice to be able to override or manually input the material and quantity fields.

A suggestion:
As far as "auto ballooning" goes . . . I really don't use it very often. You can place an empty circular ID symbol onto your drawing pointing to the component, and then when the parts list is updated, the ID symbol will have correct item number in it. If you do this, update the parts list, and the item number does not appear, then the leader arrowhead is not touching the component on the drawing.
So maybe this will help your situation out.
A tip:
Yes, you can do what you want as mentioned up in your last paragraph.

The manual parts list thing:
A manual parts list is not a problem. Click, and rmc on, on the cell in your current parts list and "Edit text", then replace whatever characters and letters are in there with what you want to show.
So in the parts list you can keep what you want, and edit out what you want to be "manual".

Thanks Jerry1423, however when updating the parts list with the leader touching the component, it does not update. This is due to the component view being a view that is not part of the assembly file. The same thing happens with exploded views of subassemblies built at assembly level, for example. The only work around is a CGM, which is ridiculous as it is not associative.

I looked at the other thread, and perhaps it is outdated but I do not have the "full text dialog" nor "object attribute" in my Insert/Curve/Text dialog. Or am I in the wrong place completely?

OK, "NOTE" command does have the object attribute but these views do not seem to have any attributes as they ARE NOT IN THE ASSEMBLY.

Dont mean to yell, just announcing the reason all of these things seem to fail.
