Auto PDF creation for viewing of NX drafting files by others

We do not have a "drawing" viewer for our NX drafting files (for non NX users) until our TC is implemented. I am against manually exporting pdf's because of revision control, discipline, time and effort, etc.

I fooled with a journal created by Cowski in this thread from NX5-6 2010:
It works very well on 64 bit Windows 7 and NX8 I might add! thanks!

However, I would like the process to be more failsafe.

I would like a way to link this to a save function (or build in a save function to the journal and link the save button to the journal) so that when the file is saved a new pdf is created (a form of digital document revision control). We would then change the default output directory to something accessible by non NX users. We would give NX users write access and everyone else read only access.

Can anyone help with this or other ideas??

TIA!

I think a menu script and journal combination would get what you want. With menu script, you can add a user defined pre or post action (journal, grip program, macro, etc) to any menu item. You can customize the journal to do what you want, then with the help of menu script, run that journal every time a user saves a file.

Here are a couple of threads that mention it:

thread561-242035

For more detailed information you will want to start with the NX help files. The menu script user's guide can be found in the Programming Tools main topic.
