Does anyone know what grade steel was used in GM truck bodys in the mid to late 50's? It appears to be 19 gauge, would like to know the SAE classification and if the same grade is being used now, in any vehicles.

Can't answwer your questions directly, but the early-to-mid 50's Ford trucks used something very close to 19-ga extensively. Are you making patch panels for a restoration?
