Autocad 2002, Win XP

I have a problem with my Acad 2002. I have installed it on my computer with Win XP operating system. I left the default settings on. When I open a blank spreadsheet, I would like to draw a simple line. I click with a mouse on starting point and I am going towards the endpoint, but I CAN NOT see the line I am drawing. I can see the line only when I have already pinpointed the endpoint. That is a bit too late. Can anybody tell me what is the problem. I checked the help menu at least 20 times and everything seems to be ok. Thanks

Check your dragmode variable. See if its set to auto. I had this problem once and altho my dragmode variable was properly set, I was still having to deal with it. The problem, believe it or not, turned out to be the video driver was suddenly not current for the new operating system we had installed!
