AutoCAD Function, Extract Data From Other DWG Files

I'm wondering if anyone has developed a script that would search the attributes of other DWG files in a directory and then populate a table in a CAD file with a Drawing Index?

I'm thinking this wouldn't be a LISP routine because it extends beyond the dwg file but then I'm no CAD Expert.

The Design Centre allows you to look into other drawings and extract information - try recording a macro undertaking the process.
