AutoCAD quilt(?) surface has no thickness in INVENTOR

I have a 3D dxf file of a deformed shape geodesic structure. The elements used to define the deformed shape are triangle shaped. I have imported this DXF file (attached) into AUTOCAD and placed a surface onto it (quilted surface I think).

Now, I need to take that surfaced model and combine that with an INVENTOR 3D model to check for interference fit. The problem is that when I import it into AUTOCAD INVENTOR, it requires a "thickness" to the surface to be really 3D. INVENTOR does not permit me to enter a thickness - I beleive that the surface is not "continous" may be the source of the problem.

Anyone ever try this before and found how to get the surface into INVENTOR as a surface that I can work with ?

Well, the DXF is imported as a Composite and you need as surfaces to Thicken. You can do this through the Construction Environment - but then each triangle would have to be thickened individually. A lot of work unless you are only interested in a certain area.
