Yesterday I got CadWORXX 2010 in the mail and the CD said that it was compatable with 2007 through 2010. I have AutoCAD 2006 and it won't run with that version (I called). The 2006 seems like a really stable bit of software and I don't want to leave it for something buggy.

Looking on e-Bay I found a 2009, full, non-student set with a serial number that can be registered for $800. There are some deals on 2008 on the web for less but I haven't looked into them. I'm trying to figure out if 2009 was a solid, stable program that I can upgrade to without a lot of drama or if I should look harder for 2008. The 2010 version is just too expensive to be considered.

Anybody have any opinions on the older versions?

For 2009, the interface had a major overhaul.
I HATE IT.
It has lots of zoomy features, but you have to access everything you're used to by clicking an A in the u/l corner of the screen. I.e., it adds a mouse click to most things.

I like 2008 a _lot_ better.

There's a way to get sort of halfway back to 2008's interface from 2009 by clicking an obscure icon, but it doesn't get all the way back; it's still a PITA.

I'm still running 2008. General opinion indicated that there was quite a slow down with 2009.

From what I understand, that's been somewhat corrected with 2010.

I'd stay away from 2009. If you don't want to pay for 2010, get 2008.
