We have some title blocks drawn in AutoCAD that I would like to use in ProE. Can you import AutoCAD formats as ProE formats or do they need to be recreated in ProE?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can import them. That is how we made all our title blocks. However, if you want parametric information from the drawing & model to automatically populate your title block you will have to make tables with text strings containing the parameters.

You can include Pro/E reserved parameters like &model_name, &current_sheet, &dwg_name, &scale and your own parameters like &material, & mat_spec, &heat_treatment, etc.

Thanks for the response. Putting tables on the title blocks has caused problems because people will accidentally move the table and they are unable to get it back in it's original location. Is there a way to "lock" the tables in position?

Not that I know of. After you do it once or twice you stop doing it. You can always go into page setup and replace the format with the same one. Delete all the old tables and let Pro/E fill in the new ones. The only thing that will probably not fill in correctly are creation dates.

If I wanted to use the AutoCAD title blocks, what would be the correct procedure?

Would I create a ProE "C" title block file and import the AutoCAD "C" title block and then save the format file? Sometimes when I import a file into a ProE drawing, it always says the file is not the same size as the current file. Wouldn't the AutoCAD "C" format be the same size as the ProE "C" format?
