AutoCAD Viewport Problem

I have a drawing in AutoCAD 2004 where the text and notes are not displayed in the viewport, but are visible in model space. This is odd as there are other viewports on the same page that display just fine.

I have checked the attributes of the viewport and also the layers to see if anything is turned off, but have been unable to determine the problem.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Are you certain that the layers aren't frozen in that particular viewport?

Just to clarify, there are no frozen layers in the drawing and the items cannot be seen or printed from paperspace.

have you checked the layer while the questionable viewport is active?

Is it all viewports giving you problems, or just one? If it's just one try copying the viewport and see what happens (make sure you turn it on)... and/or make a new viewport to see if your problem persists.

There are two places to check, and I can't tell from your reply if you have looked in both places. In the image below, the second column is "Freeze" and the last one going off the side of the image is "Current VP." If the layer is not showing up in that one viewport only then the most likely candidate is that it is frozen in that specific viewport, but not globally. You have to activate that particular viewport to check.

The command to check for viewport visibility is VPLAYER. Have you used this to check for the viewport "attributes" as you said in your first message?

Also note that if the layer is set not to print, and you're running a more recent version of CAD, then objects on the layer won't be visible in paperspace, and they won't print. Check the print icon for the layer in the layer manager.

To check if the layer is turned off in that viewport only, go into paperspace, double click on the viewport to work through it, then go to your layer manager.

Make sure the text is not on Defpoints Layer

If you have not solved this already does the text show up as some form of outline or just not appear at all. If it is just the outline then it could be the following: check under the Tools/Options pull down menu, on the Display tab there is a check box for "display text boundary frame only" make sure this is un checked.
