autocad, viewports and paper URGENT!!!

hi all, im sorry if theres another thread somewhere about this in here but i didnt find it and im terribly late!!

my problem is the following:
i have to make a layout for a plot, but i always get an horizontal sheet space,
1) how can i setup the dimensions of the sheet u got in the layout?
in the supposed-to-be vertical sheet i need to insert several viewports containing:
-a kind of bounduary
-the main background raster image+lines
-some other little raster images.
all these should be contained in the first, which has irregular shape. furthermore, the little rasters have to be on a higer layer than the big image...
2)how can i do this?
3)is there a way to "layer" viewports?
4)why the command "make wp from an object"(polyline)makes out the wp but the background image is visible out of the borders of wp itself?

Once you have made the view ports, double click inside them, then zoom and pan until you get what you want, then freeze the viewport by first double clicking right clicking outside the viewport then right click the viewport border and go for properties.

1) once in paperspace, you can type pagesetup in the command line , select a plotter/printer, then set the page style for portrait, to see the vertical page.
2) once you have the vertical sheet the way you want, type pline, then draw the irregular shape you want for your viewport. also draw all other viewport shapes you want. then, type -vports, o for object and pick on each shape you drew one at a time. then, double click on each shape, and type, z, hit enter, then e, hit enter. you will see the elements in your modelspace through paperspace.for multiple viewports (overlapping) you can freeze the layer in which you originally drew the viewports, in paperspace.
for moving raster of layers higher or lower, pick the one you want to be at the background, type dr, hit enter, then b, hit enter to send it to the back. you can do the same thing with f, for front.hope this helps!
