I have downloaded Lenny's SolidWorks macro "CommonNotes". I need to add my own notes and also have them list from bottom to top. I tried editing the macro with no luck. I tried emailing him, with no luck. Has anyone tried editing it, or do you have your own macro that works like I need.
Thank you, ctopher

ctopher,

Did you place your notes in the .INI file?

Where can I find that download, I would like to take a look at it.

Thanks
Chris

yes, but can't get them to list from bottom to top. Also notes with commas start a new note after each comma.

Yes ctopher, I have downloaded it and have personalized it as well. What are the exact problems you are having and what are you trying to accomplish.

I have notes that include commas. After each comma, the macro starts a new note.
Out dwgs have notes starting with note 1 at the bottom going up. The macro only allows me to go down. Can this be changed in the macro?
thank you

Thats an interesting question, I will have to play around with the macro a bit to figure out the answere. I will get back to you as soon as I figure a way out. I know that you can adjust the placement of the notes based on a measurement from the Title (for instance the default of the macro places the first note .01 meters below the title. So there should be a way to move it above it, but you would have to solve for the length of the notes, and get the re-numbering to work. I will look it over and post again. Keep me up to date if you figure anything out.

I have been working on a similar macro which will insert multiple notes based on selections made from a Combo box (drop down menu style) and insert them at locations pre-defined in the macro. It seems to work ok so far, and it will prob let you do what you are trying to accomplish with a little editing. I use it to enter "Drawn By", "Date", "Material", and some other misc items. Let me know if you are interested I can try to send you a copy.

I too have downloaded Lenny's SolidWorks macro "CommonNotes".
I have tested it and added some notes of my own and all works fine
The trouble is I need to have all my notes in both English and Chinese
The macro doesn’t support Chinese text it would be a good tool to use if could
Any suggestions

hey....thanks for your commonnotes macro (v2)...i just found a link to it from website...and it works great...you are truly the man, lenny...so i went in and customized the .ini file to reflect our standard notes and change the case setting and its perfect...but we also have a lot of FlagNotes (rotated triangles) within the regular notes...

for example:

NOTES:

1. Deburr all parts.

2. Mark parts per process spec STAR-101-a3.

<FlagNotes#NPer-Flag-3> Clean all parts using TMS-576 thinner.

4. Prime and paint per B7564-A-54 code.

any ideas how to accomplish this??? Thanks again,

I downloaded it from Lenny also. I got it to work and it works great! The only part is if you type periods or commas, it will start a new note after each one, but is OK.
For triangles I edit the note, go to beginning of note, add symbol from note "feature manager" at left, change symbol library to flag, then OK.

right on...i had the same problem with ,'s and .'s...i even tried using ascii code and still couldn't get it to wor right...and about the flag notes, thats what i doing too...thanks

hey...i found a way to use comma's and periods...just put the WHOLE note (in the .ini file) in (*******)...

example:

Break all sharp edges.

"Break all sharp edges, surfaces, and seams."

yes " " ...put quotations around it...sorry, i'm a dork sometimes...haha...thanks

I tried that 2 days ago. I'll try it again with the updated one tommorrow. Thanks
