Hi,

We have a requirement to build either flat products with a large number of parts (3000) but we don't want to pick and insert the parts by hand due to the number. We have 12,000 parts to pick from.

Can this be automated from a excel file or text file ?

Regards
Pat

In theory yes, you can automate a tonne of your work provide you have the correct Build licensing (KWA/PKT) and runtime licenses for end users (KT1) plus the skill set to develop. Not to discourage you but, it is not an overnight with 2 hours of reading solution but nothing would be if you are talking about 12000 parts.

Basically you will need to develop the assembly structures with a sound naming convention, application resource management catalogs (ARM), knowledge advisor (KWA) rules/reactions/checks/actions and some scripts.

If you have access to catia help docs search out Generative Functions

Derek

Hi,

Derek is right, in theory you can do a lot of things but depends on many, many things...how your parts were created, how should look your Product Structure, do you have specific rules for creation of assemblies a.s.o.

I used DP2 license and was able create Macro that add and constrain instances of Part(from tree or as a new component) to selected axis systems from selected existing part . Unfortunatelly I'm not able to post my macro here for well-known reasons, but If You still need those macro show me Your Excel file with comments about desired Catia's tree specification and parts' files paths

greetings
