I am looking for an automated MP3 player that will play a message when a contact is closed. I plan to use it over a stores intercom system to play several messages when a relay is thrown. If the device can be intergraded into a board design that would be even better.

Thanks

can you give some specifications?
How many do you need?

Please DO NOT post the same question twice

I will need one device for each store location. About five messages will be great, but right now I need to get something in place so even one message would work. As far as relays go I can put as many on the board as needed.

Note: The reason this was posted twice is because someone mentioned that the question was better suited for this forum.

How many stores and how long message? speech or music quality?

MP3 needs costly processing -- unless quantity is huge.
It may be more economical to digitize the raw audio
and do it with brute force -- memory is cheap and
getting cheaper.

Fix message or changeable?

We are looking to have a couple hundred stores by the end of the year. Each message would be speech and for about 10-15 seconds. Once we design the message it is unlikely that we will be changing it, and if we do it will not be frequent.

I think the simplest solution would be a serial flash
RAM connected to a DAC. For recording an existing PC
could be used with some additional circuits.

There are some micro based projects that control
a computer CDROM to play audio tracks (not mp3)
elector magazine did one- you could select the track to play
