Automatic JT files for Assemblies

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to automatically create JT files for assemblies in NX6?

I have enabled 'Save JT Data' in Customer Defaults and NX is now creating JT files for all piece parts, however it is not doing it for assemblies.

I know that it is possible to create JT files for assemblies by using File > Export > JT files, but we would like this to be automatic.

Regards,

Rob

Since we do NOT recommend that users create Facet files at the Assembly level, we do not provide any built-in automatic options for doing that. However, if you wish to have a faceted file of an Assembly, you will need to do it manually or create a custom application if you wish to make it more automatic.

On a different interpretation if you go into File>Export>JT at assembly level it will create such a file and a sub directory to it containing JT files for each component. This is supportable by a Macro that you could place under an icon button if you wished, but it is up to you how far you go with such things.

Yes, but the result is still that there will be NO single JT facet file created which represents the Assembly itself.

Absolutely John I agree, just thought I'd explain the obvious more or less encouraging twohundredthhorseman to try doing something that uses the system as is.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the info. We want to create JT files of assemblies so that people in our factory who do not have NX can view them using the free VizMockup (or whatever it's called). If we have to do it manually then that's fair enough.
