I am looking for a way to remove manhole covers and storm drain covers automatically either with a truck attachment or a portable machine. Does anyone know if this animal already exists? If so, any information about it would be helpful.

There are a few out there but most of the time you have to have the machinery dead center on the cover. And if you are removing the cover to look in the manhole, you are outside the truck anyway. So just take it off manually.

Find a copy of the "USA Blue Book", a wasterwater supply company, there have several that may work.

I've always found that manual is fastest. The mechanical devices are cumbersome and take too much time to set up. I've always found that an approved lifting lever and a 5 lb hammer (when the covers are wedged due to traffic or ice) work the best. KRS Services
