Automatic mechanical flow control device bet stormwater & sewer system

Hi,

I am looking for an automatic mechanical flow control device that diverts the low flow in a storm water gravity pipeline to the sewer system via a link pipeline. When the flow gets higher in the storm water system, the flow access to the linking pipeline needs to be closed.

The aim is to divert poor quality storm water to the sewage treatment works, particularly during dry periods when there is low dilution.

I have considered float devices but have not been able to come up with a practical and robust solution that operates automatically with minimal maintenance required.

Any thoughts/experiences will be greatly valued

consider a non-mechanical device such as an orifice / weir setup. Low flows go through the orifice into the sanitary sewer. Higher flows go over the weir into a storm drain. Size of the orifice prevents any more significant flow going into the sanitary sewer during a storm.

I specified this vortex valve for CSO regulators in Midwest project. Maintenance division of the Sewer Department preferred the vortex valve over some other regulator eqpt.

I like the non-mechanical setup as well... or use one of those slick trash/pollutant collection wells with an appropriate overflow setup... Perhaps one with the pervious disposable filter that is used to grab grease/oils etc for disposal at a regular interval. I can't imaging your sanitary sewer works being willing to accept ANY stormwater they don't have to. And, if you put a pollutant trap after detention it gets a lot smaller.
