Hi all,

I am modeling a RC element subjected to stress and i am interested to determine the deflection of the element. I am using Abaqus Standard with static-general step.

It seems that I have instability issue and I used automatic stablization technique to stabilize the problem. I am currently using "Specified disipated energy fractino = 0.0002" with a default of 0.05 for max ratio of stabilization to strain energy.

I am running the model with 8 multiprocessors. After running for 30 hours, I am only 0.068 secs into the time step of 1 sec. I suspect I am either using the wrong automatic stablization technique or using the wrong factors.

I would really appreciate if someone can advised. I have attached the 3 modes of automatic stablization in the pdf attached.

Thank you and best regards.

The defaults in Abaqus are usually spot on. I suspect it is something else in your analysis or this might just be a problem that takes along time to solve. You could try meshing with larger elements or create a similar simple problem to error check on. I hope this helps.
