Hello,

I have an application with an NTN AU0850-5LXL (42x80x45) magnetic encoder seal bearing that I would like to replace with a 35x72 encoder seal bearing. Are these likely to interchange electronically? That is, is the total number of poles in automotive encoder seal bearing fixed to some standard or convention, and thus likely to interchange? Or will the number of poles vary with the diameter of the seal, and thus be unlikely to interchange?

Thanks!

I can imagine no reason for there to be a standardized number of poles.

I assume it's an incremental encoder for ABS purposes. If all positions have identical bearings and all positions are replaced with identical bearings, then the ABS should continue to work; it depends on matching the relative rates of the increments and should be insensitive to the current speed of the related wheel.
