Evening all,

I am looking for recommendations for spot welding resources. I'd like to use RSW as an alternative to plug-style MIG welding in the restoration of certain automobiles - for a more authentic factory appearance, especially where the welds are visible. Most of the steel panels I work with fall into the 10 to 24 gauge range...floorpans, rockers, firewalls, wheelhouses, outer body panels and such.

I would like to understand spot welding as it is applied in automotive manufacturing. At first glance, most of it appears to be robotic, and one-sided. But I have had little luck finding resources that explain the processes and equipment in detail.

I also wish to find out what sort of equipment is available to small businesses to produce welds of comparable strength and quality [to factory]. I'm hoping there is a portable unit that would meet my needs.

Lastly, are there any resources that offer an introductory course on RSW?

Kind regards,
