I used the subject macros extensively in a previous project.
But now, several years later, Excel does not execute them in my new project and VBA Help does not acknowledge their existence.

Am I correct in assuming that MS killed them in XP for security reasons?

You can use the Workbook_Open and Workbook_Close event within the ThisWorkbook module in the VB Editor to accomplish what you are looking for.
