thread559-215658 was closed so I couldn't post in there...

my situation is this. I have developed an excel database of all the springs my company currently uses for manufacturing. In the database I have included a spring analysis and design tab. As the designer creates the spring based on various parameters (free length, OD, Wd, active coils, etc.) I would like to be able to generate the model of the spring by following a "simple" hyperlink.

Currently I have a spring template part in which the design table is linked to the desired cells of my database and I am using a hyperlink in my database to open my template. I also have the macro to check for & update design tables. The link opens the file, and the correct values appear in the design table, but the model does not update unless the engineer were to open and close the design table.

I was hoping this quick solution of adding the macro to the target path would be a good work-around since I do not have much, if any, knowledge of programming.

I currently have the shortcut as:

Start in: "E:\Engineering 10 (Jeff)\Templates\SOLIDWORKS"

Target: "E:\Engineering 10 (Jeff)\Templates\SOLIDWORKS\SPRING DATABASE TESTING.SLDPRT" "/m" "E:\Engineering 10 (Jeff)\Templates\SOLIDWORKS\SPRINGDATABASEUPDATE.SWP"

The shortcut will open the file correctly, but the macro will not run.

Respectfully,

Jeff D
