We keep getting this alarm. I finally pulled the b axis motor and it seems very stiff to turn by hand. its a Fanuc A06B-0115-B103. Does anyone know if that is normal?

I would think that it's more likely the lens assembly that's binding up.

If the alarm happens all the time, I would pull the motor and run it back and fourth in manual mode and see if it behave the same way.

If it's on the FO-NT, it could be debris in and around the lens assembly area that's binding things up.

Also, there is a red anodized aparture under the lens cartridge that can come loose and bind things up. Pull the cone off and make sure it's in all the way.

Thank you for the reply. I installed a new motor and pulled the whole head apart and cleaned it and re assembled and its still giving it to us. Could the servo druver be an issue?

When i had the motor out in manual mode it was giving me the warning again also then said abnormal current.

There are a couple of possibilities, that model machine, there was a problem with the power wires that go in to the plug. Give the wires a tug and see if they pull out of the connector.

If that is okay, it's possible that the power wire that goes to the motor is broken somewhere.

I understand your concern about the servo amplifier. It is a possibility, but in 17 years, I have only replaced a couple of them, usually it's a problem with the encoder side of it.

We ran new wiring a couple months ago and it all seems to be testing out good. we pulled the AMP 2 out and took it to a local shop for them to test for us so we are waiting on those results. i tugged on the wires and plugs and un hooked and re seated them and it still did it so now its a waiting game. yee haw

I have had the B-axis lens slide assembly lock up on me twice. it took the biggest set of channel lock pliers I could find and a bench vice to remove the worm wheel. Make sure you are greasing the little worm screw that drives the wheel.

Did you say you unhooked the motor? Is it possible that your back up battery has gone bad and lost your b-axis ref. point? I had this happen as well on our FOM23015NT.
