Hi:

I need to determine stress concentration factors for round-ended lugs per ESDU 81006, Fig. 2 or Peterson, 2nd edition, Chart 5.12. Unfortunately my cases are not covered. I have [ESDU (Peterson)] d/W (d/H) = 0.229 & 0.173 and a/W (c/H) = 0.331 & 0.353. Can anyone help?

Thanks in anticipation.

Go to FEA to get a true picture of stresses. You can derive your own SCF.

Thanks for your response, plasgears, but we need to make a federal case to get FEA done where I work.

Have you looked at Stress Severity Factors in Niu's Airframe Structural Design, Chapter 7?

Thanks for the ref, Steven. I'm doing other things now, but a quick look at Niu, Chapter 7 did not reveal 'Stress Severity Factors'. Can you give me a page no? I have the 2nd edition.

Cheers,
Louis

Page 238... but now that I've had some time to think about it, I'm not sure it's applicable. Start on page 219 instead.
