Hello all,

Why is the fluid category (D, M, N, etc per B31.3) on some Line Lists?
Why is the fluid phase on some Line List?
Why is the fluid density on some Line List?

When are these fields used during the design and construction? Does anyone know?

Thanks

Fluid category affects the design as different parts of 31.3 apply or don't apply - you need to read 31.3

Fluid phase can affect supports and loading of the pipe if two phase flow is present in some lines, but not others

Fluid density can affect supports, especially if greater than water weight (assumed for hydrotest) or subject to sudden changes.

Kind of a generic question so I'm afraid it was a generic answer. Is there something specific you need to know or curiosity?

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

Just for information:
There is no such thing as a 'Standard format' or any 'Code specific format' for the document that lists all the pipe line on a project.

There are however at least two names for this document:
(1) Line List (LL)
(2) Line Designation Table. (LDT)

As for what column titles or Data listing, it is simply a Client and Project specific basis.

prognosis: Lead or Lag
