Babbitt bonding strengh standards

I am preparing a work scope for rebbabbitting a tri-metal layer bearing.When i was checking bearing manufacturer document i couldnt find any thing about bonding strenght so i am eager to know if there is any test for bonding strength and if there is , is it a mandatory and important test for rebabbitting?

I'm no expert in rebabbitting but I was trying to find information on your specific case, and while I am not sure all the details, I found this online...the Navy did it. On page 10/19 it looks like they talk about a test using "Rebabbitting of previously cast bearings to determine whether the tinning or nickel plating could be reused..."

The article itself might help. I know they talk about a tensile test (page 8) to determine bond strength also. It's only 19 pages, you could give it a look.

All in all I think you should always test fro rebabbitting, especially if your customer is looking for a specific bond strength.
