what is back pressure off the turbine exhaust before it enters the condenser? and how is it measured?and where is it measured? is it just before the condenser tubes?I have conflicting reports on the matter. thank you for your time

Under ideal operation conditions you should be operating with a slight vacuum between your turbine exhaust and condenser tubes. You can measure this with a pressure gage at at point between the two. Back pressure is your enemy. This is caused by too much steam, lack of cooling supply to condensers, large air leaks into the condenser, lack of air extraction.

From the standpoint of the turbine vendors, it is static pressure at the exhaust plane of the turbine. It is typically measured with "basket tips" to reduce the effect of the high velocity.

There can be additional exhaust losses due to the geometry of thr trnasition to the condenser tubes, so the pressure of interest is at the STG exit plane.
