Dear All,

I have to install Air Duct around a diesel generator ,
In the Generator Datasheet I found the following Data related to the radiator :

Due to site condition , I will have to install the duct as follow :

Would you please provide me method of calculation of back pressure induced by the beam structure

You have three options:

Option 1: Build it and then measure it

Option 2:Use a cooling tower to cool the radiator

Option 3:Use a remote radiator

If you can find a point in the wall where you can get equal area to the radiator then I would suggest a transformation piece in the duct and ignore the beam completely by going to one side of it.
If that cannot be done add a 30* included angle fairing to the front and rear of the beam , and ignore the back pressure calculation.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.

Both SMACNA and ASHRAE cover this kind of pressure drop.

Find a Mechanical Engineer to help with this.

Thank you for your replies,
If you guys can provide with Calculation example of any other Back pressure in duct systems , I will try to this myself
Thnx

A formula is not going to help if you don't understand the parameters of the equation.
