what is major aspect of balancing of inline engines and
v-engines?which engine is suitable for multistage gas
compression? (from above two engines).
any information @ multistage comprn is wellcome.
r u referring to rotating/oscillating masses or to balancing each individual cylinder load (large bore engine)?
as far as suitability for multi-stage compression, power is power. among other considerations, look at power/weight ratio and investigate plot space limitations (if any) for inline and v-type engines.
An 8-cylinder V engine is fully balanced mechanically if the crankshaft as a unit is balanced and all the conrods and pistons have the same mass. The only other proviso is that the crankshaft to have the big end journals at 90degrees to each other. This is by far the most common. A few have the journals at 180degrees creating a vibration that can only be compensated for by 2 balance shafts.
V6 engines are a different story. I've had less to do with them but they typically require a balance shaft to reduce vibration. I believe that if it is a 90degree V, then there is no need for a balance shaft but you get uneven firing intervals.
