CAN I FIND BALL VALVES CLASS 800 ACCORDINGLY ANSI/ASME STD? IF OK I NEED THE STD REFERENCE.
ISO STD 17292 AND BS 5351 COVER THE CLASS 800# FOR ALL VALVES? WHERE THE PDF STD IS AVAILBLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD?

Degas,

Have you tried searching on the web?

I googled "ANSI 800# valves" and got this hit:

Hancock ANSI 800 Class valve has a very rugged design.

What kind of valves? Where is the valve to be sourced?

With regards to a free download of ISO standards, I can't help. I don't know where you can get a free copy.

Class 800 applies to socket weld valves.
B16.34-2004 tab;e 4 note (1):
"Class 800 is not a tabulated ASME B16.34 designation. It is an intermediate class that is widely used for socket welding and threaded end valves."

I don't know of a ANSI #800.
There is an API #800 for socket weld and threaded valves. Sometimes these are called 2000 lb valves becuause they are rated at either 2000 psi or something very close to that.

ASME/ANSI B16.24 - 1991 (R1998) - Cast Copper Alloy Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings

This Standard for Classes 25, 125, 250, and 800 Cast Iron Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings covers:

(a) pressure temperature ratings,
(b) sizes and methods of designating openings for reduced fittings,
(c) marking,
(d) minimum requirements for materials,
(e) dimensions and tolerances,
(f) bolt, nut, and gasket dimensions, and
(g) tests.

Degas, I believe you are looking for API 608. I do not have a copy here so I can’t tell you for sure that it covers class 800 ball valves. If I recall correctly it does. About downloading it for free, the API standards are not free and they are copyrighted documents. It would not be ethical for anyone to provide an unauthorized copy of the document. Perhaps someone in this forum has a copy and might be able to answer a specific question if you have one. Or, at least verify that API 608 is the correct document for the ball valves you are looking for.

Does ISO 17292, “Metal ball valves for petroleum, petrochemical and allied industries,” reference API 608? I think that JLSeagull had it correctly when he mentioned the only reference to #800 valves listed in B16.34 states that it is not a tabulated ASME B16.34 designation. This is correct because it is an API classification.

Not sure how ASME/ANSI B16.24 - 1991 (R1998) - Cast Copper Alloy Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings, has anything to do with steel ball valve for the petrochemical industry.

Also, do not confuse an API #800 valve with an 800 lb WOG valve. The WOG has a working pressure of 800 psi whereas the API #800 is something close to 2000 psi if not 2000 psi. I just remember it being 2000 psi.

Again, I have never heard of an ASME # 800 ball valve. If someone can point me to an ASME standard showing allowable pressure, temp, ect. I would appreciate it. TechStreet lists ANSI/API 608 Metal Ball Valves - Flanged and Butt-Welding Ends, Edition: 3, American Petroleum Institute, 01-Aug-2002. A lot of ANSI specs were changed in name to ASME; however, I looked for the spec in ASME and could not find it. Perhaps Degas was looking for ANSI/API and got the name mixed up.

API Std 608 for metal ball valves lacks any reference to "800".

Degas,

I have been looking around, and the references I find are to a Class 800 valve (not ANSI 800# valve). Is this what you are looking for?

If yes, here is a Class 800 forged steel globe valve.

Manufacturing Standard : BS 5352
Testing Standard : API 598 / BS 5146
Socket Weld & Threaded to : ANSI B16.11 / ANSI B2.1
Flanges to : ANSI B 16.5
Face to face to : ANSI B 16.10

Is this your valve?
