Going to SE Asia for a project in a couple of weeks. Anybody had any experience with gluing bamboo? or fabrication of the stuff at all. There is no such thing as kiln-dried, where this project will be taking place, and I'm not sure it applies to bamboo, anyway. Plenty of tropical hardwoods available, but bamboo is practically free, and some extremely durable stuff. This is not a structural project, but for cottage industry making furniture, cabinets, and the like. The stuff grows like tree trunks in this locale, so the size of stripping and planking is not an issue, either. I will also be trying to drum up some local knowledgeable sources when I get there, but it would be nice to have a little heads-up. Glues and adhesives can be imported without difficulty for the project, but prefer nothing exotic or requiring "laboratory conditions" to work properly. High temps and high humidity 365 days/year, exporting final product to North America and Europe. Am I getting in over my head? Thanks everyone.
