Hello,
I did atomization on the D2 tool steel. XRD shows strong peaks of is retained-austenite and very small peaks of M7C3 carbide. Under TEM, there are some banded features in the austenite grains. EDX resutls from the bands show they have similar chemical composition as matrix (almost equal Fe, Cr, Mo and V). you can see these bands in the attached image.
I was wondering if anybody have seen something like this. what are these features? are they different phases or they are stacking faults, low angle grain boundary or etc.

More information is needed in order to provide you with any type of meaningful response. Is this a powder particle that is in the as-cast condition that you prepared for viewing on a TEM? Or is it a HIPed and forged compact that you sectioned for analysis? What type of processing did it go through? Details please.
