Basalt Fibre Reinforced Concrete material properties in Abaqus

With warm wishes, I'm seeking parameters to enable me to model lateral loads on BFRC retaining wall sections in Abaqus. I have looked at many papers, publications and guidance documents. I have found the method for calculating these parameters, but have found it difficult to follow successfully.

The data I’m interested in are:
  • Compressive behaviour: Yield Stress, Inelastic Strain, Damage Parameter.
  • Tensile behaviour: Yield Stress, Cracking Strain, Damage Parameter.
I'm focussing on low-strength BFRC (C20 to C30) but would welcome any examples you have that can be directly pasted into Abaqus?

I’d be very grateful for any assistance you can offer.

When it comes to material properties, usually sufficient physical tests are needed but you can try using the data from literature. There are also ways to calibrate material models for FEM but they typically use test data as reference. Otherwise, you would have to rely on generic properties from research papers and maybe use microscale modeling (RVE).

Many thanks for your reply FEA Way. I understand your points... and I'm wondering if anyone has examples of actual BFRC material properties they have input to Abaqus? I see some papers that state how they have approached the generation of the properties, but without actually stating what went into Abaqus. Yes, I'm looking for a shortcut here, but I'm sure somebody must have the experience with this?

You should find tensile/compressive test curves that could be used directly or indirectly as input for some material models. But several research papers also provide constants, at least for individual constituents (this data could be used for homogenization/RVE models).
