I have three wooden doors with fire rating of 45min. These doors are for electrical/instrument shop (max. 220V), mechanical shop and equipment storage. These rooms are inside a building located in gas plant. All rooms are for light duty and minor work.
We received a request to change all to be 90min fire resistance while I think this is too much for such building.
As we installed smoke detectors and fire alarm system in the building, dose this justify keeping these doors with 45min fire rating.
I would appreciate if someone could help to resolve this issue or if I could have the NFPA doc. that support keeping these doors as fire system installed.
