Baselining Large Assembly

We're using NX 10 and TC 10, and I'm seeking some advice on the best way to go about creating a snapshot or baseline of an assembly before an upcoming review. I've been told that the baseline function within Teamcenter would be great for this, but IT says that it's not going to be working properly before the review.

I've thought about cloning everything, adding a prefix to each component name, and then freezing everything. When doing some testing, I've gotten more than one "Unexpected Error!" during the process, but I'm not sure if this is related to interpart expression errors, which some subassemblies present when opening, or something else. I've also been directed to try to avoid opening the assembly fully before cloning, so as to avoid updating lower-level components that may be have WAVE links.

Another option I've considered is to export all of the parts to my computer and reimport them into Teamcenter. When testing, I was able to complete an export successfully, but I'm not sure that the process actually got all of the components, such as our standard parts.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Wayne
