One of our clients is completing a residential mid-rise apartment project for which most of the parking spaces are in the basement level.
Instead of striping to delineate parking stalls, the developer would like to use reflective raised pavement markers (buttons). The building inspector says this is not acceptable but did not specify by which code he reached this conclusion - we can't find anything that would disallow it.
The MUTCD allows this substitution but I see no other references or standards which would confirm or disallow using the pavement markers in lieu of striping.
Has anyone any knowledge of this?
