Basic BMS questions

I've gone through 3 Lithium Ion motorcycle batteries in the last 2 years. I opened one up to see what's inside it and determine if something can be done to improve their reliability. Looking at the BMS, I can tell it has the ability to balance the cells by discharging stronger cells until they match he weakest cell. But I can't tell if there's any circuitry to protect the cells from over discharging and circuitry to balance charging. Can someone please tell me if there appears to be any of that on this BMS?

To provide protection from over charging or over discharging there has to be a relay or a large semiconductor available that the entire pack feeds thru. Usually found on the negative pole. I see no large cable running thru this board so I'd say there is no such protection.

Your batteries can take it in the shorts too if the temperature gets too high or low.
