Hi,

I am very new to the pressure vessel industry.

I would like to know the basic concept of the pressure vessel design.
Below are my queries..

1. How is the pressure maintained in the pressure vessel and how do we decide the working pressure and design pressure of the equipment. ?
2. What is external pressure and how it is calculated and why is the thickness of the vessel varies along the length when external pressure is acted upon the vessel. ?
3. What is the difference between reactors, pressure vessel, columns.? When do we say particular equipment is a column or a reactor.?
4. What are SSC , SCC, SOHIC and what care should we take while selecting materials (Carbon steel / LAS) for this kind of service ?
5. can anyone help me understand the chemical and mechanical properties of duplex SS, monel, inconel, incolloy, hastealloy and when should we go for such composition of materials?
6. What is the purpose of platform support , which is all over the vessel.?
7. I would be very thankful if anyone can help me find out some good links and literature for pressure vessel design, material selection.?

Thanks in advance

ASME has classes to teach you on how to use the code. These classes are about 4 days long. Go to the ASME website for more information.
