I'm still quite new to SE and have been asigned the daunting task of integrating it into our business. We are a steel door and window manufacturer and as such seem to be a little outside the standard clientele of this product. This has made it a little difficult in following the file structure of others who have posted thiers in the past. I was hoping some of the more experienced users here could give me some input as to how and how not to setup our file structure so to avoid disaster and confusion down the road.
I'll try to give as much insight as to our workflow as possible.
We build about 10-20 different jobs in the shop at a time. Each job usually contains several doors, windows, louvers/ect. of varying sizes, hardware configurations, swings, and designs. As you can imagine this leaves us with literally hundreds of possibilities
The hardware installed on the doors varies but I have already built quite a large library of hole templates and hardware that can be assebled to them.
Once a job is completed we must keep the exact copy of any parts and assemblies for it for several years. They must not change if the base hardware is modified later down the road.
Each individual door, window, ect is driven by its own excel file that resizes each of the tubes, plates, angles and glass to easily resize an assembly so we dont have to build from scratch each time.
Current solid edge folders include
Working directory
Hardware
\Fasteners
\Generic
\Left hand reverse
\Right hand reverse
Hole Patterns
Stock Steel Material
Template Door Model A
\door
\frame
Template Door Model B

Template Window Model A
Template Window Model B
ect, ect,
I have not started any job folders yet as I dont feel I'm ready to delve right in until I get things a little more structured.
I'm sure there's more you need to know but I cant think of much as I dont really know where to start. I hope you can help out.
