I´m starting to deal with the component stress analisys of components using the ASME Division 2.

Does anybody know where can I find on the webb information on understanding the stress categories and their allowable limits?.

In other words, I´m looking for the:

"Understanding Pm, Pb, Pl, Q, F, Sa, Sm, Sh for dummies".

See if you can track down a document called "Criteria of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for Design by Analysis in Sections III and VIII, Division 2", published by ASME. (otherwise known as the Criteria document).

Let us know if you can't find it, and we'll try to help you out.

Also, try searching through the eng-tips archives. We've had some good discussions here on stress classification categorization. I would also search through the ASME conference proceedings from the PVP conferences. Lots of good papers written about this topic. Finally, get your hands on WRC Bulletin 429. It will be immensely helpful.
