I'm attempting to do a batch conversion of a directory of UGNX files into V5R17 files. The documentation outlines the following;

"C:\<install_dir>\intel_a\code\bin\CATDMUUtility.exe" -env CATIA.V5R17.B17 -direnv "C:\Winnt\Profiles\All Users\Application Data\Dassault Systemes\CATEnv" -f E:\tmp\assembly_file.prt -product E:\tmp\prod1.CATProduct

Where
-env ... is the default environment
-direnv ... is the directory path containing this environment.
CATIA.V5R17.B17 is an example of environment name, it will vary with the level of CATIA installed.

My question is how can I make this work on an entire directory of UG files and send the converted V5 files into another directory. The example only shows how to do it for one specific item.

Thanks...

Fighterpilot,

supposing that you have Catia Multi CAX plug in for UG!
Is note really necessary to use the batch converter if your components are the components of an assy.
If yes, insert your UG assy in a Catia assy but you must have in Tools\Option\Compatibility\External format Tab the Link mode set to CATPart. All your UG assy components will be converted automatically in CATParts and saved in "Output Path" defined in the same location.

On the other hand, is not OK if you will call the CATDMUUtility from interface? (Tools\Utilities and then select the CATDMUUtility)
For sure will allow you to process many files simultaneous!

Cristil,

No, it's not really necessary to use the batch converter. You are correct in saying that the conversion happens automatically when retrieving a UG assy into V5 when the MultiCad plugin is available. However, it is much faster to use a non-graphics based converter to do the conversion. For a conversion of a couple files I would do this method.

I did some more checking and found it was much easier, and faster, to use UG's STEP converter to output a STEP file and then use CATIA's CATUTIL utility to convert STEP to V5. I was able to get about 200 an hour conversion rate with this method. I had over 11,000 files to convert.
