Dwelling unit bathroom exhaust fan has the exhaust duct run pretty far and it's not pulling any air.

Is the typical solution to this a booster fan or something else?

New bathroom exhaust fan, with correct static pressure rating. Is there a reason why you'd install a second fan when you can just replace the original?

How far?

Either make the duct bigger or install a more powerful fan. Read the t echo details on the fan units as to maximum length of duct.

Is the duct blocked or restricted somewhere.

No air movement or not much? Use a piece of tissue to see

If the ESP doesn't match the one that's already there, measure it and change the fan instead of putting in a new fan with its ducting
