battery power

Would it be possible to fit a strong enough battery into plastic casing with an area of 8 in^3? or thereabouts. Battery needs to only be for one use and then discardable.

OK, even more confusion; you want to make a battery with 8 cubic inches, or you want to put an AA battery in 8 cubic inches? And are we talking volume or area as stated in the OP?

Since a double A battery is much smaller than 8 cubic inches then I would say yes, you can fit a double A battery in 8 cubic inches. In fact, you could put several double A batteries in 8 cubic inches. Whether it will do what you want is unknown since you have not been able to define what you want to accomplish with said battery.
