Does anyone have recommendations on using SAFE to design beam reinforcing?
I tried a models using beam elements and using a slab element the width and depth of my beam element. I created a design strip the width of my slab element representing the beam. The strip shear in the slab element ended up having a much greater value than the beam element shear. It seems that the difference is because the beam element does not include the slab shear within the width of the beam. If this is the case then the SAFE beam design tool is useless. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I am wondering how others use SAFE for beam design. Advice is appreciated.
