What is the minimum and maximum hight from ceiling to instal a beam type smoke detector?
And what is the maximum distance between the beam detector transmiter and receiver?

On smooth ceilings, a spacing of not more than 60 ft (18.3 m) between projected beams and not more than one-half that spacing between a projected beam and a sidewall (wall parallel to the beam travel) should be used as a guide, refer to NFPA 72, Appendix (A), A-2-3.4.5.2.
NFPA 72 (2002) See annex A Figure A.5.7.3.4 then refer to NFPA 72 (2002 - most recent code - check for which code your local AHJ has adopted) 5.7.3.4 on page 39. -- Hope this helps.
