Hi,

I have created a beam model to apply pressure on the outside surface using BEAM4 and applying pressure on the beam but the beam orientation is not same for all elements in the model. This results in different moment on inertia for different elements.

Is there a way to retate the element coordinate system to orient all the elements in the same way.

Already tried. esys.

Any help is appreciated.

You can define a third "orientation" node, k, for each element. See the "ANSYS elements reference" section on BEAM4 for figures and description of how this works. Note that you don't necessarily need to define new nodes if there is a convenient one(s) on some other element(s) to define the orientations.
