What is the bearing area Abrg of a 3 inch bolt. Also where did you find the information?

Cooksumrice:
You need to give much more info. and a sketch, with dimensions, sizes, loads, etc. How is this thing going to be used and loaded? 3" bolts aren’t off the self items, nor is a detail using them a common detail. The end bearing is just the area of the 3" circle. Bearing as in a bolt hole, maybe a pin hole in a padeye (lifting plate), is a Hertz stress problem, and is a function of the bolt dia. and the hole dia.

Abrg is calculated with dimensions from the screw (outer contact diameter Do) and the mating hole (inner contact diameter Di). Then:

Abrg = [π]/4[·][Do2-Di2]

Maybe he's looking for the bearing area of the bolt head on concrete as in an anchor bolt. Or maybe it's the shank projected area of a 3" diameter by x" long bolt. Or maybe, or maybe, or maybe.
