I would like to know how I can work out bearing reactions ( radial and axial load) if I have a shaft to which a helical gear is attached, supported by bearings on either ends. If I apply a torque to one end of the shaft how do the bearings see the load assuming the gear is transmitting the torque. My main concern is the calculation of a tangential load which acts away from the axis and the radial load (?) which is due to the weight of the gear and the shaft. How are they related and how do I resolve it to find the radial and axial load on the bearing? Thanks.
