I am trying to find geotechnical literature and references regarding the geotechnical properties and geology of the Beaumont Clay Formation, a predominantly clayey Pleistocene soil unit in the Houston area and offshore TX/LA...any leads?

Contact Dr. Michael W. O'Neill at the University of Houston - UH has an area on campus that has been thoroughly tested. Also look for all the onshore papers published by Bramlette McClelland, John A. Focht Jr. and McClelland Engineers, Inc.

Why do you want this information?

I looked at your web site - suspect that your interest is offshore, not onshore.

Is your interest geophysical, or geotechnical?

If your interest is offshore, contact the Offshore Technology Research Center (OTRC) and ask for the contact info for one of the geotechnical professors, most likely from the Univ. of Texas at Austin or from TexasA&M, they might be able to help.

I'm not sure how much has been done at UT in the last decade or so - you might try to contact Dr. Kenneth Stokoe or Stephen Wright. (Good luck catching Stokoe!) Dr. Jean Louie Briaud at TAMU is your best contact - Bob Lytton is a good resource there, but may not have what you are looking for. (His specialty is soil suction.)

When did you attend The University?

Dear Focht3,

Thanks for the helpful advice. Are you any relation to the famed Houston J.A. Focht?
